Dan wanted to solve a common problem in many two-story homes: uncomfortable bonus spaces and a garage that never seemed to stay at a reasonable temperature. The two walk-in storage areas were difficult to use during extreme weather, and the garage experienced wide temperature swings throughout the year.
When we inspected the home, we found that the enclosed wall and ceiling cavities surrounding these areas weren't providing the thermal protection needed to keep outdoor temperatures from affecting the living space.
Our team used a dense-pack insulation process to completely fill the enclosed cavities around the storage areas and the garage. Unlike traditional insulation that can leave gaps and settle over time, dense-pack insulation is installed under pressure to surround framing members, wiring, and other obstructions, creating a continuous thermal barrier.
We also sealed key air leakage pathways before we insulated to reduce unwanted airflow and improve the overall performance of the insulation system.
By treating these hidden spaces instead of simply adding more insulation where it was visible, we helped transform underperforming areas into spaces that are much more comfortable throughout the year.
Now the garage maintains more consistent temperatures, the walk-in storage areas are better protected from extreme weather, and the home's overall energy efficiency has been improved.
