Crawl Space of Sun Room Addition causes Comfort issues In Salem, Ohio Home
The homeowner has a room addition that couldn’t be used in the winter because of the cold that was coming through the floor. The addition was built using fiberglass insulation and Celotex insulation sheathing held up with furring strips to hold it all in. He found Home Environment Solutions online and hoped we could make an improvement.
Mark was the consultant that came out to assess the job. He proposed a solution that would work!
The production team came out to do the job and first thing they ran into were several snakes in the crawl space and in the fiberglass insulation. No worries one of the team had no problem fishing them out! Next the team removed all of the Celotex and the fiberglass insulation to be discarded. The team installed treated plywood to the bottom of the framing for a long lasting barrier and to hold the new insulation in. The team then removed the bottom rows of siding to allow access to the rim joist. They used a hole saw in each cavity of the floor joists. Next they inserted tubes in each cavity to the end and under high pressure they dense packed the entire area with cellulose insulation. Finally they filled the holes and replaced the siding.
The home owner said he had hoped he would notice a difference but cannot believe how much better his room is. The results far surpassed anything he hoped for.
