Owner Carol D of Brackenridge, PA was looking for a solution to reduce the road noise from the high traffic street in front of her home. Carol was also concerned about losing storage space in her knee wall attic.
Mark O. proposed insulating the attic with sound reducing TruSoft cellulose insulation and insulating the knee wall with Cotton Armor insulation batts.
Foreman Mike Y. and his team Craig C. and Zach T. air sealed and insulated the attic to R60. In the knee wall attic the team removed the 60 year old paper insulation and replaced it with Cotton Armor insulation held in place with insulweb.
The owner said she can’t believe what a difference it’s made both with the comfort of the bedroom and the sound.

The owner Jill A called us after being refered by a friend. She said that the room addition was her master bedroom was up to fifteen degrees colder in the winter and significantly warmer in the summer.
Certified Comfort and Energy Specialist Mark O evaluated the home. He discovered poor attic insulation and a vented crawlspace below the room addition to be the problem. During Marks inspection he also discovered some wood rot and very high humidity in the wet crawlspace. Mark had solutions to resolve Jills uncomfort.
Foreman Mike Y, installers Craig C. and Jeff W. installed a perimeter drain system (SmartPipe) and a SmartSump sump pump system and a Zoeller sump pump and CleanSpace Drainage Matting to first deal with the water intrusion into the crawlspace area. Next TerraBlock crawlspace floor insulation was installed to create a thermal barrier. Finally SilverGlo insulation was installed on the walls followed by CleanSpace Liner.
Next the team air sealed the attic and properly insulated with cellulose insulation to an average of R60 for optimum results.
Jill reported that she felt this was the best money shes ever spent and her room was the same temperature as the remainder of the home. Jill is now using her dry crawlspace for extra storage.
Owner Amy H was in the process of purchasing a new home. During a routine home inspection mold was discovered in the attic.
Certified mold inspector and remediator and Certified Comfort and Energy Specialist Mark O evaluated the home. Mark determined the mold was caused by a common problem, poor insulation and lack of proper ventilation. Mark designed a mold remediation protocol which included removal of the mold, properly ventilating the attic, and then properly air sealing and insulating the attic.
Foreman Dave P. and the certified mold removal team properly removed all of the microbial growth in the attic leaving a healthy environment.
Foreman Mike Y. and his team air sealed the attic and properly insulated with cellulose insulation to an average of R60 for optimum results. The HVAC ducts located in the attic were spray foamed to air seal and insulate.
The owners were ecstatic with the results! They reported back that in August the home was the same temperature throughout and the cooling bill was half the cost of the home they just moved from that was significantly smaller.
